MPO staff selected the roadway corridor consisting of Summer Street, Rockland Street, and George Washington Boulevard in Hingham and Hull for the federal fiscal year 2015 Boston Region MPO study, “Addressing Safety, Mobility, and Access on Subregional Priority Roadways.” The study identified and analyzed a number of safety, mobility, and access problems that various transportation modes face in the corridor, including challenges for pedestrians and bicyclists. The study proposed short- and long term improvements for the entire corridor as well as for specific locations along it, such as the Route 3A rotary on Summer Street. The proposed improvements will help ensure that the corridor operates safely and efficiently for users of all transportation modes, according to the MPO’s vision for future transportation in the area.
