The Current UPWP: FFY 2025

On June 20, 2024, the MPO voted to endorse the FFY 2025 UPWP after a 21-day public comment period. The UPWP includes a list of work programs and studies MPO staff will conduct over the next year. The FFY 2025 UPWP was approved by the MPO’s federal partners and took effect on October 1, 2024.

Amendment One

On November 21, 2024, the MPO board voted to endorse Amendment One (PDF) Amendment One (HTML) to the FFY 2025 UPWP. This amendment reflects the addition of six grant-funded studies or projects. Four studies are funded by the United States Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) FFY 2023 Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program, which include the City of Boston’s Greening Chelsea Creek Waterfront, the City of Cambridge’s Bicycle Pedestrian Crossing of the Fitchburg Commuter Rail Line, the City of Everett’s Uniting Neighborhoods and Transit Opportunities, and the City of Lynn’s River Works Reimagined projects. This amendment also includes one USDOT FFY 2023 Safe Streets and Roads For All (SS4A) grant for the City of Everett’s Planning and Demonstration Activities project and one FFY 2024 USDOT Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant for the City of Salem’s MBTA South Salem Commuter Rail Stop Design. Amendment Two

On February 20, 2025, the MPO Board voted to endorse Amendment Two (PDF) Amendment Two (HTML) to the FFY 2025 UPWP. Amendment Two adds eight federally funded discretionary grants into the appendix of the document: one Prioritization Process Pilot Program grant awarded to the Boston Region MPO; one Congestion Relief Grant jointly awarded to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, and the City of Boston; three Safe Streets and Roads For All (SS4A) grants awarded to the City of Quincy, the City of Watertown, and the Town of Needham; and three Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program grants awarded to the City of Boston, the City of Revere, and the MBTA.
